10 Things You Should Bring to Festivals
You should definitely bring more than these 10 things, but if you forget any of these you won’t have the best time possible!
This should be a no brainer but a lot of people don’t bring enough. With most festivals taking place in the heat of summer you need to stay hydrated. It’s especially important to hydrated before you go up front for a set because you might be there dancing for a while if you want to hold that spot.
2. Bathroom supplies
Don’t rely on the bathrooms to be stocked with toilet paper or soap. If there’s camping it’s best to bring your own supply because inside the camping areas things are way overpriced if they even have what you need.
Comfort is key but get creative. Depending on the festival it’s nice to have a gazebo tent for an open space that provides shade and tents for sleeping on the side. Tapestries provide great privacy, shade, and decoration. At festivals in the heat i.e. Coachella it’s nice to sleep under the stars.
One of my pet peeves is people in the front of the crowd with overstuffed backpacks. However, you need something to hold the necessities so bring something small that you can pack lightly. Camelbacks kill two birds with one stone so you don’t have to have a separate bottle. Just make sure you remove anything that’s not allowed in the venue before you hit security.
5. Some source of power
Your phone is going to die, your speakers are going to die, and your car battery might even die. Be prepared and have all the chargers you need. There are batter packs that can recharge your car and phone and these days solar power is a great option.
6. The right clothing
Choose the right clothing for the weather and if there’s a theme bring costumes. If it’s Burning Man bring no clothes, if it’s EDC bring barely any clothes and make sure they’re neon.
7. Drink of choice
If you plan on consuming alcohol bring the amount you plan on drinking with you. You won’t be able to bring it in the venue but can have it at your campsite. No one wants to pay $12 for a drink and if theres re-entry you can head back to camp and re-up. Same goes for food!
8. The official iPhone app
Need to check the schedule or map? Most major festivals release an app that has all the info you need. This is more convenient than the paper ones that are handed out. Just make sure you have enough battery.
9. More than enough money
However much you bring will probably not be enough. Many places won’t take cards and ATM’s are not always in the most convenient place. Make sure you have enough cash for emergencies like a cheeseburger mid after party!
10. Your Wristband
It’s crazy that anyone would forget the one thing above all that is necessary to even get in the event, but it happens. make sure it’s on your wrist days before or as soon as it comes in the mail. Then everyone will know your serious about the festie life.
